柬埔寨移民总局遣返15名非法居留及务工越南公民

8月18日，柬埔寨移民总局经贡布省Prek Chak国际口岸遣返15名越南籍人员，其中包括5名女性。上述人员涉嫌参与毒品贩运、非法持有毒品、共谋实施毒品犯罪以及非法吸食毒品等活动，同时存在非法居留以及非法务工等违法行为。

The General Department of Immigration of Cambodia Deports 15 Vietnamese Nationals for Illegal Stay and Employment

On August 18, Cambodia's General Department of Immigration (GDI) deported 15 Vietnamese nationals, including 5 women, through the Prek Chak International Border in Kampot province. The individuals were suspected of involvement in drug trafficking, illegal possession of drugs, conspiracy to commit drug-related offences and illegal drug use, and were also found to have committed violations including illegal stay and employment.

On August 13, police in Svay Rieng Province, Cambodia, carried out a raid in Bavet Village, Bavet Commune, Bavet City, arresting 2 Vietnamese nationals and 1 Cambodian national. Police seized a large quantity of drugs, 1 handgun with 6 rounds of ammunition, 1 homemade bomb, 1 motorcycle, 8 mobile phones, 1 iPad, 8 knives, 1 electronic scale, and other related items.

香港警方瓦解跨国电话诈骗集团抓获17人

香港警方西九龙总区刑事部过去两个月展开代号“闪袭”的反诈骗行动，瓦解一个活跃于本地的跨国电话诈骗集团，拘捕14男3女（20至54岁），其中13人为东南亚人士。

Hong Kong Police Smash Phone Scam Syndicate, Arrest 17 Suspects

Hong Kong Police dismantled a transnational telephone-fraud syndicate in a two-month operation codenamed "Strike". 14 men and 3 women, aged 20 to 54, were arrested; 13 were Southeast Asian nationals.

The syndicate allegedly recruited Southeast Asians with high-pay offers, arranged their travel to Hong Kong as tourists, and used them as cash couriers. Core members posed as victims' relatives or friends and persuaded older people to hand over purported bail payments.

Investigators traced a cryptocurrency exchange centre and two money changers in Mong Kok. From 4 June to 14 August, the locations were allegedly used to process 4.67 million HKD (approximately 595,000 USD) linked to at least 22 cases. Police seized 3.67 million HKD (approximately 468,000 USD) and recovered 200,000 HKD (approximately 25,500 USD) for 1 elderly victim.

Vientiane Police in Laos Arrest 78 Foreign Suspects Linked to Cybercrime

On August 12, police in Vientiane Province, Laos, arrested 78 foreign nationals suspected of involvement in online scams and maintaining online gambling websites at two hotels in Vang Vieng District. The group included 77 Chinese nationals and one Malaysian national. None of the suspects was carrying a passport. Police seized 170 mobile phones, 41 laptops, 7 tablets, 1 desktop computer, 58 Mac mini devices and other items allegedly linked to the case. On August 17, authorities also shut down 62 related illegal gambling websites.

老挝沙耶武里省警方捣毁电诈窝点，抓获47人

7月13日，老挝沙耶武里省巴莱县警方联合相关部门，突击搜查会莱诺村一处外籍人员租用的旅馆，捣毁一处网络诈骗窝点，抓获47名犯罪嫌疑人，其中包括印度尼西亚籍38人、中国籍4人、老挝籍1人和越南籍1人。警方现场查获22台笔记本电脑、228部手机、1台平板电脑、39张身份证件、20本护照、6本工作证、5本居留证、2辆电动摩托车及其他涉案物品。

调查显示，7名中国籍人员自2026年5月初起招募并培训相关人员从事网络诈骗活动，承诺每人每月支付600美元。1名老挝籍人员负责翻译，每月领取1000万基普（折合约440美元）报酬。

Lao Police Bust Online Scam Operation in Xayaboury, Arrest 47 Suspects

On July 13, police in Pak Lay District, Xayaboury Province, working with other relevant authorities, raided a guesthouse rented by foreign nationals in Houay Lai Noi Village and dismantled an online scam operation. Police arrested 47 suspects, including 38 Indonesian nationals, 4 Chinese nationals, 1 Lao national and 1 Vietnamese national. Officers seized 22 laptops, 228 mobile phones, one tablet, 39 identity documents, 20 passports, 6 work permits, 5 residence documents, 2 electric motorcycles and other case-related items.

Investigations found that 7 Chinese nationals had recruited and trained personnel to carry out online scams since early May 2026, promising each recruit a monthly salary of 600 USD. A Lao national worked as an interpreter and received 10 million LAK (approximately 440 USD) per month.

老挝警方破获非法野生动物制品交易案，抓获11名越南籍嫌疑人

8月16日，老挝公安部环境警察部门联合波里坎赛省警方，在该省巴卡丁县蓬沙伦村一处度假村查处一起非法收购、出售和持有珍稀野生动物制品案件，抓获11名越南籍犯罪嫌疑人，其中女性1名。

警方现场查获重约1755.6公斤的疑似象牙物品、2具疑似黑豹尸体，合计重约45.5公斤，以及其他野生动物制品，并扣押2辆汽车和11本护照。

Lao Police Arrest 11 Vietnamese Suspects in Illegal Wildlife Trade Case

On August 16, the Environmental Police Department under the Lao Ministry of Public Security, working with police in Bolikhamxay Province, investigated the illegal purchase, sale and possession of protected wildlife products at a resort in Phonsachaloen Village, Pak Kading District. Police arrested 11 Vietnamese nationals, including 1 woman.

Officers seized approximately 1,755.6 kilograms of items suspected to be ivory, 2 animal carcasses resembling black panthers with a combined weight of about 45.5 kilograms, and other wildlife products. They also seized 2 vehicles and 11 passports.

Myanmar Warns Public of Financial Scams Misusing MCCT Programme Name

Myanmar’s Department of Social Welfare has issued a public warning about ongoing online financial scams involving the misuse of the name of the Maternal and Child Cash Transfer (MCCT) Programme. The MCCT initiative is a key component of Myanmar’s National Social Protection Strategic Plan. It provides direct financial assistance to pregnant women and children under two years of age across seven regions and states. The department stated that enrolment of eligible beneficiaries under the MCCT Programme is conducted strictly in person through the relevant ward or village administrators, not collecting registration or enrolment data online under any circumstances, and charges no fees for applying for or obtaining registration forms.

Thai Police Arrest Drug Network Member, Seize 800,000 Methamphetamine Pills and 5 Kilograms of Crystal Meth

On August 17, Thailand's Border Patrol Police Division 23 arrested a member of a drug trafficking network in Nakhon Phanom Province and seized 800,000 methamphetamine pills and 5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine. Police identified the network while investigating an earlier case involving the seizure of 2 million methamphetamine pills and subsequently tracked down the suspect and the vehicle used to transport the drugs. The suspect and seized drugs were handed over to relevant authorities for legal proceedings.

Da Nang Police Arrest 5 Chinese Nationals Wanted by Chinese Authorities

On August 17, police in Da Nang City announced that they had arrested 5 Chinese suspects wanted by Chinese authorities in recent weeks. Police arrested 4 on August 13 at the request of China's Ministry of Public Security. The other man, wanted by the Jiande City Public Security Bureau of Zhejiang Province, China, was detained on July 29, and police handed him over to Chinese authorities at the Friendship International Border Gate in Lang Son Province.

Vietnam Ho Chi Minh City Police Uncover Human Organ Trafficking Case

In July 2026, the police in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, uncovered 1 human organ trafficking case. According to the investigation, the criminal ring used social networks to target financially distressed victims for kidney sales. For each transaction, the intermediary received a commission of 50 million VND (approximately 1,900 USD); for each successful kidney transplant, the victim received 10 million VND (approximately 380 USD). To date, Ho Chi Minh City authorities have clarified 3 related cases and arrested 11 suspects involved.

13 French Youths Involved in Drug Trafficking Found in Asian Airports

Since mid-June 2026, at least 13 French nationals have been detained at airports across Asia on suspicion of smuggling cannabis. According to French radio station RTL and the newspaper Libération, 11 of them are currently being held in Thailand, while 2 others are in detention in Hong Kong, China.

The cases are believed to be linked to a so-called "Thailand plan" circulating on social media. Drug traffickers posted advertisements offering free trips to Thailand as a lure, tricking French youths into carrying suitcases filled with smartphones back to France, when in fact, the suitcases contained large quantities of cannabis.
